If you are planning to have hardwood flooring installed in your home, you will need to prepare for the process. Our team at Southern Contracting Company has extensive experience in hardwood floor installation projects, and we would love to tell you more about how we transform homes with our services.
In this article, we’ll explain how we prepare our clients’ homes for the hardwood floor installation process, which ensures that they’ll get the beautiful results they deserve.
- Take Measurements – Before we begin the hardwood floor installation process, our team will carefully measure your space to calculate how much flooring is needed. We’ll include at least 10% more than necessary so there will be no danger of running out, and we’ll factor in the installation pattern as well.
- Prepare Subfloor – Another step in the process of preparing for hardwood floor installation is to get the subfloor ready to support the new boards. Our team will make sure your subfloor is clean, dry, level, and sturdy before we install the first piece of hardwood over it. We’ll take care of all necessary repairs so that the new hardwood can be installed perfectly
- Acclimate Flooring – Another key preparatory step in hardwood floor installation is to let the flooring acclimate to your space. You need to let the boards sit in the room where they will be installed for five to seven days beforehand so that the wood can settle. If we begin the installation process too soon, the floor will warp. Once the wood has had time to get used to the climate conditions in your home, we’ll begin installing your floors.
